Credits and licenses
Last updated: October 2026
GoTravels uses photos, data and software made by other people and companies. This page says where they come from and under which license.
Photos
- Pexels and Pixabay: photos that are free to use under their own licenses. We still name the author next to the photo.
- Wikimedia Commons: each photo has its own author and license (CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC0 or public domain). We show them next to the photo, with a link to its page on Commons. Thumbnails have no room for a credit, so they only use photos that do not require one.
- Destination photos and the photos in the GoTravels blog posts are ours. Photos in community experiences belong to the people who post them.
If a photo is yours and the credit is wrong, or you do not want us to use it, write to us and we will fix it.
Places and maps
- Place data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
- Destination suggestions as you type come from Geoapify and LocationIQ.
- Maps on the website are drawn with Leaflet, and the map images come from OpenStreetMap.
Exchange rates
The US dollar equivalent of the budget uses Rates By Exchange Rate API. It is approximate.
Open-source software in the apps
The GoTravels apps use, among others:
- React Native and React (MIT license)
- Expo and expo-image (MIT)
- Ionicons, the icons (MIT)
- react-native-webview (MIT)
- @react-native-google-signin/google-signin, for “Continue with Google” (MIT)
- Caveat, the handwritten font (SIL Open Font License 1.1)
The website uses Leaflet (BSD-2-Clause), Bootstrap and Bootstrap Icons (MIT), and flag-icons (MIT).
Thanks to everyone who builds and maintains these projects.
